Nagomi Ikeyan

About an 8-minute walk from Shizuhamo | Izakaya
Exterior of Nagomi Ikeyan

Nagomi Ikeyan is a local izakaya located about six minutes on foot from Keihan Fujinomori Station. It has tables and tatami seating, and is loved by many local residents for its calm atmosphere.

The restaurant serves Japanese dishes made with seasonal ingredients and carefully prepared broth, along with dishes from the chef’s hometown in Miyazaki. It is a quiet and comfortable place to enjoy good Japanese food at a reasonable price.

When the owner first visited, he learned that the chef had also studied the Urasenke tea ceremony, and had experience working with tea kaiseki cuisine in a traditional restaurant. It was a memorable opportunity to meet someone familiar with both food and tea culture.

Shizuhamo itself is not a restaurant, but as part of its cultural activities, there may be occasions in the future when light meals such as tenshin could be prepared here. In that sense, this is also a very reassuring nearby restaurant.

Sabō Chikusei

About a 4-minute walk from Shizuhamo | About 2 minutes from Sumizome Station | Matcha café
Interior of Sabō Chikusei

Sabō Chikusei is a quiet café near Keihan Sumizome Station, where you can enjoy matcha and Japanese sweets in a calm atmosphere. It is a very suitable place for the kind of matcha and wagashi experience that connects naturally with Shizuhamo.

It is a place where you can quietly enjoy, through taste, the tea culture introduced at Shizuhamo. For that reason, it feels especially well matched to a visit before or after the Shizuhamo experience.

After visiting Fushimi Inari, or before or after your time at Shizuhamo, this is a very good place to sit down and enjoy a bowl of matcha.

Because it is only about two minutes from Sumizome Station and about four minutes from Shizuhamo, it is also convenient for a short rest or as a meeting point before or after your visit.
