Shizuhamo
Kyoto Machiya Space
A Designated Kyoto Machiya
A new hands-on cultural experience in a private Kyoto townhouse
Shizuhamo, Seasonal Harmony, is a private reservation-only cultural attraction set inside an Important Kyo-machiya in Fushimi, Kyoto. Guests can casually experience a range of traditional Japanese cultural elements in a self-guided, hands-on style. Look out over the tea garden, pass through a nijiriguchi entrance, touch the hanging kettle and mizuya utensils, grind matcha with a stone mill, listen to the sound of a small gong, and arrange seasonal tea flowers. It is a quiet place where visitors can enjoy cultural details that are difficult to encounter in ordinary sightseeing.
