Kyoto Machiya Space
A Designated Kyoto Machiya
A New Hands-On Cultural Experience Attraction
Shizuhamo is a Kyoto City-designated Important Kyo-Machiya that preserves the history and atmosphere of old Fushimi. Away from the crowds of Fushimi Inari, it offers a peaceful space where guests can casually experience traditional Japanese culture in an atmosphere where time seems to stand still. It is located about 10 minutes from Fushimi-Inari Station, including train and walking time.
“A Place Where Kimono Looks Its Most Beautiful”
If you would like to photograph yourself in kimono near Fushimi Inari, Shizuhamo offers a unique and authentic setting. Staff members with knowledge of tea ceremony and ikebana quietly assist guests with traditional posture and gestures during photography. More than just a photo spot, Shizuhamo allows you to embody authentic traditional manners and capture truly memorable photographs.
“A Space Where You Can Touch Tradition”
Your experience begins with preparing your own bowl of matcha. The first floor features a winter-style tea room with a traditional nijiriguchi crawl-through entrance, while the second floor reflects the atmosphere of a summer tea room. The tea utensils and ikebana displays throughout Shizuhamo are not only for viewing — guests are encouraged to gently touch them and experience their weight, texture, and seasonal character firsthand.
In this hidden retreat in Fushimi, enjoy a special moment as though you have stepped back in time into old Kyoto.
